ROSENBLATT SECURITIES HIRES JOE MAKO AS DIRECTOR OF VISUAL ANALYTICS

Visualization Expert Will Boost Firm’s Execution Analytics & Consulting Group

NEW YORK, NY, December 2, 2011 – Rosenblatt Securities is pleased to announce that it has appointed Joe Mako to the newly created position of Director, Visual Analytics. Mako, a leading global expert on automated visual analytics and database tools, joins Rosenblatt’s Execution Analytics & Consulting group, which helps institutional investors boost returns by improving how they implement ideas in trading markets. Mako reports to Scott Burrill, a partner and managing director at the firm.

Mako is one of the world’s foremost expert users of Tableau Software, as well as other visualization tools, which help translate reams of data into signals and conclusions that drive decisions and action. Under Burrill, Rosenblatt’s Execution Analytics & Consulting group has been a pioneer in applying Tableau to the world of institutional equity trading. “During the past three years we have made major investments in cloud computing and predictive analytical tools, to help clients better understand how they can trade more efficiently,” said Burrill, a six-year Rosenblatt veteran who previously spent 17 years as a quantitative trader for several big institutional investors. “Visualization technology makes these tools far more valuable and usable for our customers. Hiring Joe, who is a true star in that field, takes our efforts to a higher level. We are thrilled to have him on board.”

Prior to joining Rosenblatt, Mako was a Visualization Expert at S2 Statistical Solutions, a highly regarded, Cincinnati, Ohio-based firm that specializes in data mining and economic analysis for companies in the health care industry.

Rosenblatt’s emphasis on visual analytics and database tools is part of its continuing effort to help institutional investors navigate today’s complex market structure and the deluge of data it can generate for traders. “We want to provide our customers with cutting-edge, customized tools for execution analytics and understanding market structure,” said Joe Gawronski, President and COO of Rosenblatt Securities. “Bringing Joe to the firm helps us achieve those goals.”
